22. Wall of glass . . .

My June 14 site visit was good.  The patio door is installed.  There are large windows all along the back of the house.  A double sliding glass door separates the living area from the patio.

Temporary doors on the workshop, and front porch are in place.  We need don’t have garage doors yet and we need a temporary door between the house and the garage.  Installing that door would give us a completely enclosed building envelope.  Unfortunately with record breaking high temperatures, the windows have made it much hotter working inside the house.  Opening all the windows and doors helps, but it is a tough working environment.

The low voltage work is complete but will need a final walk-through check.  The attic is a spiderweb of multicolored wires.  Also electricians have installed much of the 220V wiring, but still lack work on all of our punch list items.

We received cabinet drawings on June 15.  They look good, but you know we couldn’t leave well enough alone.   I gave them a revised sketch for the kitchen island.  U.W. wants more seating area around the island. It should be relatively easy to accomplish by eliminating some shelving on one end.  The island is very large at 4.5’ by 9’ and will be one continuous flat surface.  It contains the kitchen sink.

There will be a build in chest of drawers in the master closet.  It is quite large at 6.5’ long and 3.5’ high.  The drawings had 6 very large drawers.  To improve organization possibilities, I modified changed the design to include a total of 12 drawers.
